Zhongtian Technology: Construction Contract for 16,000-ton Submarine Cable laying Vessel! Signed!

According to Xiangyu Marine Equipment, on April 22nd, Nantong Xiangyu Marine Equipment Co., Ltd. signed a contract with Shanghai Yuanwei Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. of Zhongtian Technology Group for the construction of a 16,000-ton submarine cable laying vessel.

It is reported that the 16,000-ton submarine cable-laying vessel is 139.8 meters long and 38 meters wide. It was independently developed and designed by the 708 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation. It can navigate within an unlimited navigation area and is currently the largest self-propelled, pure electric cable-laying vessel in China

This vessel is suitable for operations at a maximum water depth of 200 meters, with a maximum cable carrying capacity of 16,000 tons for a single voyage. It is equipped with high-end facilities such as a helicopter platform, a large coaxial turntable, and dual cable outlet channels, and has the capabilities of dual cable laying simultaneously, single-hook operations in large water depths, and cross-border construction. After the new vessel is put into use, it will break through the bottleneck of laying submarine cables in the deep sea (over 100 kilometers), providing core equipment support for Nantong’s development towards the sea and the layout of new Marine infrastructure such as far-sea wind power and energy islands, and effectively promoting the upgrading of industries such as equipment manufacturing and clean energy.

Xue Chi, the president of Zhongtian Technology Group, stated that this cooperation marks a milestone development for Zhongtian Technology in Marine engineering equipment. The 16,000-ton submarine cable laying vessel will set a new domestic record for the number of submarine cables it carries. After its commissioning, it will lay over 1,000 kilometers of deep-sea and far-sea submarine cables annually, which can effectively drive the growth of industries such as cable manufacturing and wind power equipment in Nantong. It will also become a “sharp weapon” for Zhongtian to compete in the international market. It is expected that with the joint efforts of both sides, this giant ship carrying the dreams of China’s offshore engineering equipment will set sail for Shenzhen as soon as possible
